American golfer John Catlin is eyeing a permanent spot with LIV Golf following his impressive performance at LIV Golf Nashville, where he filled in for Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC. Catlin’s strong showing has sparked interest in his potential future with the league.

Catlin, a reserve player for the Crushers GC, has stepped up to replace Charles Howell III, a member of the Crushers since 2022. Howell was unable to compete due to a left leg injury, as revealed by DeChambeau.

“I got a text probably four or five days ago now, and he’s like, “Man, I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to play. ‘He’s like, ‘I fully snapped my leg in half,'” DeChambeau shared.

Surprisingly, the 33-year-old American reserve has made a significant impact, shooting two consecutive 5-under rounds to sit at 10-under after two rounds. This placed him in second place, just ahead of team captain DeChambeau, who was third at 9-under

.Tyrrell Hatton leads the field at 13-under, with round three of LIV Nashville set to commence Sunday afternoon. However, it was Catlin’s performance that caught the attention of golf fans online, sparking new self-belief in securing a full-time roster spot with the team.

“I’d be lying if I said it didn’t creep in there, but again, I don’t really have any control over that. That’s up to the captains,” Catlin remarked post-round. “That’s up to managers. That’s up to the team organization.”

“If I just keep doing what I’m doing, things are going to work out, and I’m going to keep putting in the work, and I hope I get more opportunities to showcase what I can do,” he added optimistically. “We’ll just have to wait and see I hope so. I can tell you that right now, I would love to be out here.”
