Rory Makira leaves the open championship
The Lolimakirrai week in the open championship ended after surviving two towers in the Loyaltoon to jump 36 moles.
Rory Makilra survived the worst week of his career in this year’s final T -shirt, and missed the third championship opening.
Macilla finished the first two laps of the 11th pair. One hit is better than the worst mupling show in 2013. After starting the tournament in abysmal fashion with a first-round shot of 78 on Thursday, he had a lot of work to do before day two.
- Unfortunately for the Northern Irishman, he was never able to recapture the form that brought him so close to winning the U.S. Open last month, shooting an over-par 75 in an unforgettable second round on Friday.
McIlroy’s start to the day was less than ideal, as the harsh conditions on the Scottish coast took their toll. His first bogey of the day came at the third, but it was what happened a hole later that proved to be the beginning of the end for the four-time major champion.
Having found trouble down the left in waist-high fescue, McIlroy’s first attempt to get back into safety ended up back at his feet, before a second saw him hack himself back out into the fairway. The trouble was far from over though, as his third shot was pulled left into the gallery.
A misjudged chip then followed into a green-side bunker, but he did give himself the chance to save an up-and-down after playing his shot from the sand to five-feet. But just like his misfortune at Pinehurst No. 2 in June, McIlroy missed a short putt and ultimately finished with a triple-bogey eighth.
