Rory McIlroy gave a tough answer to a question about divorce during his latest press conference.

Rory McIlroy silenced a reporter with a four-word response, dodging questions about his personal life after announcing he was filing for divorce. News broke Tuesday that McIlroy and his wife of seven years, Erica, had separated and filed for divorce. The world No. 2 is due to play in the PGA Championship this week against Louisville, Kentucky. McIlroy met with the media at 6pm Irish time, but it was clear he wouldn’t be answering questions about his personal life when PGA Championship organisers told media before the press conference began that McIlroy would not be commenting further on his divorce.

When a reporter asked the four-time major champion how he was feeling personally, McIlroy replied, “I’m ready to play.”

McIlroy was on hand to answer golf-related questions, including Jimmy Dunn’s resignation from the PGA Tour board and his position on the game. “I feel good,” Makira said. “Obviously, it was a big day in the golf course, I fell in love for many years, I was a great success, and I came to a successful place. Obviously I need to come back to Quail Hollow every year, I just don’t come back here too often. Today was my first time at the golf course in 10 years, so it was good to get to know the place again.
“The golf course is a little different from 10 years ago, and a little longer. It’s a small minor change pair, but it’s almost the same as what I remember.
“This game was good, leaving a very good performance last week with Shane (Rory) with New Orleans and two interesting victory. I’m just trying to keep up.

“Some of the shots I hit last week, some of the three-quarters, some of the wedges, some of the irons, combined with the way my driver feels now, obviously gives me a lot of confidence.”

The Hollywood Golf Club player will play against the likes of Justin Rose and Dustin Johnson in the first two rounds as he tries to put an end to his major winning streak. McIlroy’s last major was 10 years ago at the same tournament and location.
