Rory McIlroy Appears Dejected with Family After Heartbreaking US Open Defeat
When something tragic happens in your life, you can often feel like you’re in a daze for several days on end afterward. It’s almost as if a hangover lingers with you for the time being.
That’s likely how Rory McIlroy is feeling the day after his heartbreaking loss at the US Open, losing to Bryon DeChambea by a single stroke after bogeying three of the final four holes.
It wasn’t just the fact that McIlroy lost, but the way he lost which likely hurts the most. The PGA star missed putts of 30- and 45-inches on two of the final three holes to fall out of the lead. After the round was over and DeChambeau was crowned the winner, McIlroy got out of dodge as quickly as possible, skipping his post-round media obligations.
Now, a day later, McIlroy was spotted spending time with his family at a local marine life center near his home in Florida, .

While it appears that McIlroy was working to get over his devastating loss by spending some good family time with his wife — the two recently called off their public divorce — and daughter, it’s clear by his body language that McIlroy is dragging a bit after Sunday’s outcome.
It’s also notable that both his wife, Erica, and McIlroy were wearing their wedding rings in the video posted by TMZ.
On Monday afternoon, McIlroy took to social media to post a letter to his fans, saying that he was planning to take the next few weeks away from the sport to regroup and get ready for The Open Championship.
