Lando Norris snaps at Sky Sports F1’s Ted Kravitz in “excruciating” interview
Sky Sports F1 pit lane reporter Ted Kravitz has been interviewing Lando Norris for years but admitted he was caught out by the McLaren driver’s response to one of his questions
Lando Norris caught Ted Kravitz by surprise in a Montreal interview
Ted Kravitz revealed a “torturous” interview he had with Lando Norris after the Monaco Grand Prix.
Norris finished fourth in the race, a few weeks after he secured his first ever F1 race win in Miami. And, just as he did after that maiden victory, he took the chance in Monaco to hit the town once his duties at the track were done with. He was spotted in the exclusive Jimmy’z nightclub to party.
And when he was next interviewed by Sky Sports F1 favourite Kravitz. the first question was about his time in the club – but prompted a more serious-than-expected response. Kravitz recalled the awkward exchange on his Ted’s Podbook podcast. Speaking to fellow Sky colleagues Rachel Brookes and David Croft, he said: “Did you hear my torturous interview with Lando? I started with, ‘How was the party at Jimmy’z nightclub on Sunday night in Monaco?’, where he went to celebrate because he lives there.
“As George Russell says, Lando parties even when he hasn’t won the race. It was a fairly jokey question, old man refers to young people’s nightclub, and Lando kind of looked at me and said, ‘Racing drivers should be allowed to go off and celebrate, why can’t we have a private life, you don’t need to know what happened.’
“It was excruciating. I asked the McLaren press guy afterwards and he said he thought [Norris] was doing the flip on me and countering my joke by just being awkward. If he was doing that then I totally fell for it – he was doing it with a brilliantly straight face.”
Norris was back to his usual laidback self as he fulfilled his media duties ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. He is one of the favourites to win with McLaren expected to perform well at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, but he still thinks Ferrari are the ones with the upper hand this weekend.

He said: “I think all weekends at the minute we seem close and impossible to say, can’t say no. I’m never going to say, ‘Yeah, this is my weekend.’ But I’m confident enough to say that the last few weekends we’ve proved that we’re close, we’re in a good fight with Red Bull and Ferrari. So I’d like to say, yeah, we have a good chance. The team are performing very well, I feel like I am. The whole team is as a collection and that gives us good confidence into every weekend.
“I think [Ferrari] are favourites. With kerb riding, that’s a big part around here. It’s going to be close. It’s impossible for me to say if it will be us, Ferrari or Red Bull on top. That’s why it’s exciting. None of us really know and it’s going to be close. Ferrari I would probably put as favourites.”
