Kevin James reportedly playing John Daly in upcoming series
A series about golfer John Daly is in the works, and a familiar name from years past is set to play Daly.
Per Deadline, Kevin James will play Daly in the untitled series, which will be executive-produced by James’ brother and King of Queens co-star Gary Valentine.
This isn’t James’ first foray into sports content. In addition to his King of Queens character being a huge sports fan, with plenty of sports-related content throughout the show’s run, James starred as current Denver Broncos host Sean Payton in the widely-panned Netflix film Home Team. He also starred in a NASCAR series called The Crew in 2021, which was canceled after one season, and the MMA-centric Here Comes the Boom in 2012.
As for Daly, there has been plenty of content about him in the past, including the 2016 ESPN 30 for 30 film Hit It Hard. In 2022, Jonah Hill was reportedly going to star as Daly in a biopic, though there’s been no news about it since that initial story nearly 18 months ago.
No outlet or any other details about the series have been revealed. James seems like a decent enough choice to play Daly, and we’ll see how this ends up going.
