Darts legend Phil Taylor (63) gives health update after surgery that puts him on crutches
Darts icon Phil Taylor has updated fans on his health after surgery that has left him on crutches.
The 63-year-old is battling painful arthritis in his hips. Since retiring from professional darts in 2018, “The Power” has been competing on the World Senior Tour.
The 16-time world champion has struggled with form, including a disappointing first-round exit at the Senior Championships in February due to arthritis. In an effort to get back on track, Taylor underwent surgery in June to correct the problem and has been using crutches to get around since then.

In a video message, Taylor said: “Hey everyone, it’s Phil the Power. Just wanted to let you know I’ve had surgery, lots of people have been asking about it so everything is OK. Now I’m off crutches, which is great.
“Monday marked three weeks. So in three weeks I will join the training board preparing for the senior class.
“I hope that now everything will go back to normal, that’s the plan. See you, be fine and safe.
Taylor has decided to end his career at the top, and is expected to participate in a match play world match in York Barbikan in October.
